As members of Hollywood’s A-list elite, you would hardly expect Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush to be scrambling for a payday.
But that’s exactly what they can expect from the state of California this year – as they are reportedly owed more than $25,000 (US$20,000) in total by the Unclaimed Property Fund.
According to figures obtained by Deadline, the Australian-born stars are among dozens of film industry figures and companies owed thousands of dollars by the state.
Among the state’s lengthy list of creditors, Melbourne-born Cate is owed over $20,000 (US$16,000), while Geoffrey, who hails from Queensland, is due a slightly less substantial $5,320 (US$4,085).
